Our digital non-destructive activation (DNA) technology captures images encrypted with an algorithm signature, storing them securely in our database. This proprietary technology enables the authentication of Gold Maple Leaf coins dated 2014 and later.
In 2013, the Mint introduced a groundbreaking security feature to verify the authenticity of GML coins. Inspired by the award-winning security technology used in Canada’s $1 and $2 circulation coins, this feature consists of a textured maple leaf micro-engraved with laser technology on a small area of the coin's reverse side. At the center of this mark, visible under magnification, is the numeral "25," indicating the coin’s year of issue.
The radial lines on the 2025 GML are precisely machined to within microns on the master tooling, ensuring consistent reproducibility from die to die and coin to coin. These lines create a unique light-diffracting pattern, giving the coin its distinctive appearance.
