Founded by the Canadian government, the Royal Canadian Mint are a leading supplier of currency and bullion coins globally. Set up as a branch of The Royal Mint to refine gold from the Yukon in the late 1800’s, the RCM today manufacture the ‘Maple’ investment coin in both gold and silver.
In honor of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Royal Canadian Mint released this beautiful 2009 1 oz Gold Maple Leaf Olympic Coin to commemorate the event.
These comparative Olympic gold coins contain fine .9999 gold bullion. They carry a legal tender face value of $50 CAD, these gold bullion coins are traded based on their pure gold content and limited availability.
The Gold Olympic Coin’s obverse depicts the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Susanna Blunt, alongside an image of the logo of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the 2009 year of strike, and Canadian $50 dollar face value.
The gold coin’s reverse features a thunderbird, with small maple leafs swirling in the wind as well as the 9999 fine gold purity and 1 troy oz weight.
