The gold refinery was founded in 1977 in Ticino, Switzerland. Named PAMP, (Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux) the early business specialised in manufacturing high quality gold bars and quickly established itself as the leading Bullion brand globally.

The introduction of the FORTUNA bar 1979 marked the first time that a branded gold bar, minted on both sides, was introduced to the market. PAMP further enhanced the product by protecting each bar in a tamper-proof card and then more recently using the blockchain to track from mine to consumer investor, ensuring the provenance of the gold itself.
