The 1906-S Liberty eagle at a decently high mintage of some 457,000 pieces. However, many of these went directly into circulation. This has made the 1906-S $10 Liberty a conditional rarity in any grade above MS63. In fact, NGC has thus far only graded 2 gem coins of this date.

According to the NGC Price Guide, as of December 2023, a 10 Dollar Gold Coin from 1906 in circulated condition is worth between $1100 and $1275. However, on the open market 1906 S Gold Eagles in pristine, uncirculated condition sell for as much as $52500.
