1929 £1 Postal Union Commemorative Gold Stamp

Gold stamp replicas are a form of medal or medallion. Although not VAT exempt, they can be an interesting way to invest in gold at the same time as acquiring historical, artistic, or antique artefacts. This is a 22 carat gold stamp replica of the 1929 Postal Union Congress Stamp. It was issued in 1974 by Hallmark Replicas. The Postal Union Congress £1 stamp was only the second commemorative British stamp ever issued. It was designed by the artist Harold Nelson.

DESIGN:

The obverse of the stamp shows the 1929 Postal Union Congress £1 stamp design. This was created by artist Harold Nelson. The design shows St George and the Dragon, with a crowned portrait of King George V on the left. The text reads: POSTAL UNION CONGRESS LONDON 1929 The reverse contains the 22 carat hallmark and makers marks, as well a stamped serial number.
