1990 New Zealand - Annual Proof Coin Set (Pre-Owned)

This six-coin Proof collection has been struck by the Royal Mint for the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. The reverse design of each coin features a different aspect of New Zealand's fascinating heritage and natural history. The Sterling silver two dollar coin displays a Kotuku (White Heron) in early-flight, with Maori motif surround. The Kiwi on the background of fern leaves has been introduced as the design for the sterling silver one dollar, known as the 'Kiwi Dollar'. The 50 cent depicts Captain Cook's sailing ship the "Endeavour", while the 20 cents coin bears a well-known Maori carving. A Maori carved head, with Maori pattern around, is on the 10 cents coin. Featured on the 5 cents coin is the tuatara lizard, endemic to New Zealand. The obverse design design, common to each coin in this Proof Collection bears the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maurice.
