A powerful symbol of national pride, the kangaroo embodies the spirit, resilience, and natural beauty of Australia. As a result, it takes pride of place on the nation’s signature investment coin series.

DESIGN

The coin’s iconic design portrays a bounding kangaroo surrounded by stylised rays of sunlight. Border inscriptions include ‘AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO’ and the coin’s weight, purity, and year-date. Within the artwork are the inscription ‘RED KANGAROO’, a reference to the largest of all kangaroos, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The coin’s obverse depicts the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.

AUTHENTICATION FEATURE

The coin incorporates an authentication feature on the reverse. In the form of a micro-laser engraved letter, it is only detectable under a magnifying glass.
