Founded in 1896 as a branch to the British Royal Mint, Perth Mint today is one of the largest minting plants globally, owned by the Western Australian government. Manufacturer of the iconic ‘Kangaroo’ gold and silver investment coins, Perth Mint also produce a popular lunar series and a range of sought-after collector coins.
Over its 125-year history, The Perth Mint has produced sovereigns, circulating coinage, and highly-regarded modern numismatic and investment pieces. Marking our milestone year, the anniversary design on these coins reflects the Mint’s best-known contemporary series with a kangaroo, kookaburra, and koala portrayed among golden wattle. The inscription ‘1899 THE PERTH MINT 2024’ appears within a scroll at the foot of the design, which also includes a ‘P125’ mintmark.
DESIGN:
The superb coins in this Typeset Collection feature the following skilfully applied surface finishes:
- Proof – a flawless mirror-like table with frosted motifs
- Gilded – with selective 24-carat gilding
- Proof coloured – a polished table with coloured design motifs
- Bullion – with frosted table and shiny motifs
The coin’s obverse portrays the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.
PRESENTATION:
Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the coins are housed in a four-coin display case which comes in a themed shipper.
